The International Centre for Criminal Law Reform and Criminal Justice Policy and the AMS Sexual Assault Support Centre (SASC) are pleased to invite you to register for the upcoming free workshop: Deconstructing the Perfect Survivor happening on June 1st, 2018. The workshop will be located in Room 2301 of the AMS Student Nest at UBC.
In this half-day, complementary event, we want to challenge the notion of the “perfect survivor” and instead introduce intersectional approaches to supporting survivors of sexualized violence. We acknowledge that people from different marginalized backgrounds experience different forms of oppressions and thereby recognize the need for a nuanced dialogue with a focus on a holistic and intersecting approach to supporting survivors. Practically, we hope to engage in a critical discussion that will shed light on the accessibility of support and building safer spaces for survivors with intersecting identities.
Afterwards, we plan to have a lunchtime meet and greet mingle with speakers and service providers.
